    Radoslav Kvapil - piano In comparison with his symphonies and chamber works, Dvořák's piano oeuvre has been paid relatively scant attention. The composer himself was not a virtuoso and by means of the piano he frequently gauged the bearing capacity of his musical ideas, instrumenting a number of his originally piano compositions shortly after.

    The intertwining of Dvorak's compositions--Radoslav Kvapil's soft touch, mellow playing(but he can whip up the notes when he has to)right-sounding tempos--the unique sound of this piano, mellow and sparkling at the same time, never too hard--the engineer's not miking the piano too close, so that one can hear the sound of the notes decaying into /5(7).

    The other pieces on the disc are mostly minor works, but even the smallest trifle contains lovely elements entirely characteristic of the composer. In fact, the smallest of them, the F sharp major Humoresque (nothing to do with the G flat major one) composed in is, at 2’35, is a witty and disarmingly charming little gem.5/5(1).
